your favorite literary character...

Today the kids got to dress up as their favorite literary character... So today Sam is dressed in yellow from head to foot and wearing a red hat so that he can be...

Sam I am :) from Green Eggs and Ham.

Tim's costume was a bit more difficult (at least deciding what he should be was). Ultimately, we decided on Horton (from Horton hears a Who). I even made him a trunk (I bought the ears). But they were both excited and it sounds like everything worked out well. I should have gotten pictures, but didn't. If any parents sends some home from school I'll scan them and put them up.

As for me, I'm taking tomorrow off mostly to write my paper, but to do a couple of other things as well. I have about half of the paper done, but it is taking me about 1.5 hours to write about 2 pages. So we're getting there, but I'd rather be closer to done :)

Do they have clcasses for this stuff?

Ok, so for once, this is a post not about my kids...

So one of the boys goes to the bathroom this morning and as usual uses a whole roll of paper to wipe his bum! Well, you can imagine that of course this then clogs the toilet. Well, since I am the only one home in the morning I get to be master plumber and plunge it.

But can someone tell me why after 25 tries in different angles, different positions, I still can not get this thing to unplug. But Rich will walk in there tonight (yes I did have to leave it) and with 1 try will get it to go down. I swear there must be a class for men on this!

Moon Sand...

I've probably mentioned before how my dad always hated play-doh. (I think...) Well, I certainly do not have a great fondness for it since it always seems to be more on the floor and table than in any semblance of art :)

But I have now decided that I like Moon Sand even less. Sammy was bored last night so I let him pull out his moon sand. I figured putting it in a big rubbermaid contained would keep it semi-neat and that by putting it on the kitchen floor, we would be able to easily clean up the spills. And really, it wasn't that big of a mess, except for when Max was throwing the sand at Sam. These pictures show you a little of the setup and a small piece of the mess. Most of the time that they were doing this, I spent trying tot find the darn dust pan and broom. And yes, I couldn't find them because I rarely use them, Rich does that!

he is too funny...

Today, just like any other day, i put Max on the potty before leaving. And of course as he is pee'ing he says, do you hear that tinkle? I say yes, and then he farts. I say, "did you fart on my potty?" He says, yes and I say, what do you say? He looks at me for a second and says, "I'm sorry?' I just had to laugh and say, No' you say, excuse me!" he was too funny!

Ok, off to bed!

Back to school

Well, the boys were back to school today and so was I. I'm taking a week long class this week so that I don't have to take one all semester. This is good and bad. Good because I can get a class out of the way quickly, bad because it is in a subject I'm not overly excited about and I have to write a 20-25 page paper about it. Blech!

So, I've determined lately that I am a lot like my dad ;) So, we bought the boys a Wii for xmas (OK Santa did) and they got Super Paper Mario to go with it. Well, I loved Super Mario as a kid and so now spend more time than I should playing. Last night, Rich went to bed at 10 and I stayed up for 45 minutes playing. This completely reminds me of when we were kids and we would be in bed and hear my dad playing Zelda downstairs on the Nintendo :) I guess I get my gamer mentality from my dad :)

Let's see, what else is going on. Kids are good... Timmy continues to be a perfectionist and huge football fan He is very excited that we decorated the downstairs last night with a life-size decal of Tom Brady (Yes, I now have a 6'4" Tom Brady in my downstaris. Plus a helmet decal that is the size of a hula hoop!) He is playing basketball and skating and loves every minute of it.

Sammy is still my good-natured, understanding kid! This morning I went to pull his gym uniform out of the dryer to find that we never turned the dryer on!! So I threw his stuff in by itself for 17 minutes, but it didn't dry. So being the sweet kid that he is, he wore a damp t-shirt and regular school dress pants for gym day without a complaint!! Tim would have freaked.

Max is still such a little spitfire. But he is so smart... this child rhymes everything. He just makes stuff up out of nowhere. No funny stories for today, but I'm sure we'll have one tomorrow :)

Time for more homework!

the snow is coming...

Well, the next week should be interesting. I'm taking a week long class this week, but tomorrow may be canceled because of the snow. Which also means that the boys may be canceled. Add to that, the fact that i had a bum tire that was replaced badly and now the spare is back on. Rich is going to have a field day with the place tomorrow when he calls.

Last night we let the two older boys stay up (as long as they could) to watch the game. Sammy made it until just before 10 and then asked to go to bed. Tim was bound and determined to make it until the end, but at 10:30 ended up in my bed "to watch the end" and was passed out within about 3 seconds I think.

Today we went to a birthday party at laserzone which was great because then Max could go and climb on the giant obstacle course and get some energy out so he could take a good nap. I tried to get the older kids to nap, and Sam is, but Tim is hanging out in my room so I can read. I am contemplating a run though.

Just a couple of pics

Sammy shooting hoops at TImmy's birthday party. He has a pretty good shot I have to say :)

Mr. troublmaker here... he got two lollipops as his prize and I handed them to him. Next thing I know he's eating both.

I hate winter!!

Well, I don't really hate winter, but I do hate all the sickness that ensues, both with us and with daycare. I am home today with Max because my daycare provider basically caught what all the kids had. This really poses a problem because then I have to be home for the day with a child who does not understand that mommy really does need to get some work done while we are here. It is even worse since this is the child who is a mommy's boy and clings to me.

He is currently lying across me as I write this. Now don't get me wrong, he's awful cute, but I just need a break from this kid sometimes. He needs to hit that switch of clinging to mommy to idolizing daddy real soon (sorry honey!).

We did decide to take a ride out to meet daddy for lunch so that should entertain him for a little while. We also have to hit the post office and CVS so it should help that we have to run a couple of errands.

Timmy is 7!

7 years ago yesterday I became a mom for the first time. Little did I know how my life would change and I never thought time would move so darn fast!! I can not believe that he is 7 already!

So we had his party yesterday, but we also had about 15 other things to do before and after it! We had our typical karate lesson and then picked up the cake and then yesterday was the start of swim lessons for both Sam and Max and the first day of basketball for Tim. Of course he was 4 inches taller than almost everyone else there :)

Then it was time to start getting ready for the party at LazerZone where they not only have lazer tag, but they also have a giant, climbing, play structure that the kids run around on. Plus a bunch of arcade games like chuck e cheese. SO there was something for everyone, even Rich and some of the other parents as they participated in the lazer tag!

After the party it was after 4 and we went home to hang out for a few minutes before we took Tim to a birthday dinner of his choosing. He picked a local favorite (as he said, I am not sitting on the saddle!!) and off we went. That pretty much takes us to bedtime and at that point we were all wiped!

Ugh...

That's really all I can say about how I feel right now. Last night at about 7, I started feeling nauseous. Then at about 10 pm, I started getting sick and had to get up about every 1.5 hours or so to throw up (I know too much info). Well, that pretty much meant I was staying in bed today. Small problem is that the boys still aren't in school yet. So Rich, being the good dad and hubby that he is, stayed home. Well he brought Max to daycare to have to turn around and go back and get him because daycare temp'd him and he had a temp over 101. This just complicated the day!!

I slept from 8-10 and from 1-3 today and pretty much only felt well when I was laying down. Luckily no more getting sick, just feeling queasy. But I also had Max in and out of here laying with me or trying to play, or just plain old saying "I No feel good". Well, we just temp'd him again and it was 101.9, so it looks like even if I feel better, I'll be home with Max tomorrow. And we'll probably see the doc.

I am just praying that no one else gets this stuff, especially since Tim's birthday is Saturday!
