out of the loop...

Sorry it has taken me so long to send out an update. Lots of stuff going on and just nothing funny enough to report :)

First, before I say anything though, I hope that my Aunt Judy is reading... Thanks for the books for the boys! They loved getting a package and all the books. Tim has already read one of the magic tree house books and even got one out of the library as his weekly book this week. Sammy has endlessly read me the dino riddles :) And My dad was here when the books arrived and Max had to have grandpa read one before he left. Thanks so much... you really made their day!

Last week I was busy writing reviews for work and that pretty much took up most of my brain power. But they are done and i can go back to my real job :)

This past weekend was out trip to the globetrotters though and the boys definitely had a good time. It was very interesting to see that the tricks are pretty much the same as when I was a kid... they still pants someone during the game and throw water and then a bucket full of confetti (pretending it is water). The boys thought it was pretty funny. I enjoyed going out with them on my own for once. And it even sounds like Max was really good for Rich.

Oh and just to let most people know, we forgot our eggs when we went to my mother's... well me and the boys just had our egg fights tonight!! I even got them all to try a little egg white and it didn't kill them... in fact they kind of liked it!!

Ok, Rich should be here with our dinner shortly... I'll try to send out some pics soon!

Lesson #1: Don't leave a child in the tub alone...

And no, it's not because they will drown... it's because, left to their own device, they will take the cup you use to wash their hair and dump it over the side of the tub onto the floor. I didn't take a picture, but he drenched the bathmat and left a huge puddle all over the place. He was not happy when I pulled him out of the tub and made him clean it up! Argh!

Happy Easter (a day late)

I think that I have had enough egg hunts to last me all year :) And almost enough candy!

Really, we had a great weekend with the boys. We went to my mother in laws on Saturday for brunch and as usual 5 kids is always chaos :) But they loved the egg hunt and had fun playing with each other. Especially Sammy and Syd (my 5 year old niece). These two are 2 peas in a pod. They absolutely love to hang out together, they are such best friends.

Then Sunday we went out to my mother's with my mom's side of the family. We had 3 egg hunts altogether and all the kids were very happy with their stash. Max entertained everyone with his cuteness and of course, Tim harassed my college age cousin :) too much food, but lots of fun. Here are some pics (I don't know why the first one isn't rotated... it is in the original slideshow):

Easter is almost here...

And I have no idea what the Easter bunny is planning on bringing this year! I do have a feeling that Pokemon cards will be in the mix! Somehow they found the piles of them (that I tried to hide) and are playing with them again. Which in and of itself is not a bad thing, however, trading them is.

Tim absolutely wants as many of the best cards that he can get and of course, he'll feed Sammy any line he needs to in order to get those cards. And of course Sammy believes him. SO I feel bad that I have been harping on Tim to be fair, but I also know how much like me he really is!

Guess the Easter bunny will have to buy eggs and go shopping tomorrow!

It was quiet here for a while this weekend!

This weekend, my parents took the boys oevrnight on saturday. This was supposed to allow us to go out to dinner with our neighbors and to get a break from putting Max to bed (it's own trial) And to let us sleep late.

Well, I dropped the kids at my parents and my mother did a great job of shooing me out. However, dinner wasn't exactly as planned because Rich caught the dreaded bug that is going around (we think) and was out for the count yesterday. He spent pretty much the entire day in bed. So he told me to go out with the neighbors anyway since he would basically be sleeping and whining all night. So, this was fun as it was plain old adult time with my friends, but it did not allow me to spend time with Rich, which with everything going on, is sorely lacking lately. But we will reschedule.

Today I spent time reading and hanging out while cooking a dish to bring for brunch at my Aunt's house. It was really nice to get together as we don't see this side of the family enough. My cousin Julie was a fan favorite with the boys. My Aunt Sandy made their day with an Easter egg hunt (and yes, Tim walked away with the most eggs), and My Aunt Judy gave Tim some good book ideas. I think he just wanted to impress her by the fact that he was reading A.A. Milne.

But we are home now and all of them are in bed! My guess is that they are all passed out by now. I am going to read my book and enjoy the quiet for a while!

Of birthdays and anniversaries

So I'm two days late, but I should say Happy Birthday to my brother, David. (Or Uncle DJ as the boys called him) Tuesday, the 11th was his 28th birthday!

That day was also my 10th anniversary of starting m job. 10 years ago I was still in college working part time 1 day a week here to learn the ropes and the products. My group is taking me out for drinks on Friday and my boss is taking the management team to lunch to celebrate mine (and a co-worker whose official start date is the same as mine) to lunch sometime soon. I really do love where I work and can't imagine having been anywhere else. 10 years is a long time :)

Ok, speaking of work, I should be doing it!

Weekend Recap

Busy weekend as usual, although I'm not exactly sure it was very exciting. On saturday, we did the usual karate, and swimming and then went and had lunch with my mom's side of the family for Lilly's birthday. It was nice to all get together, although my kids will not leave my cousin Joe alone! It's almost like they have a big brother who will wrestle with them I think! It was nice to see my Aunt Julia as well!

Then we just really hung out on Saturday afternoon. Sunday, we had Rich's family over for brunch. It was so nice to have the downstairs for the kids (and their uncles) to play the wii. It made it so much quieter upstairs. :) Then we kid skating and I made tacos for dinner. (are you all so excited to hear about our exciting life? :) )

That's about it! I'm looking forward to the weekend as my mom is taking all three boys over night on saturday so that Rich and I can go to the Melting Pot with our neighbors. I can't wait to sleep late for once! (or at least for once since the last time my parents took the boys! Thanks, Mom!)

Just waiting for Rich to come home with our dinner!

Happy Birthday, Lilly!

Today is my Gram's 80th birthday!! Here are the boys singing her a song this morning :)

For those of you who knew me in college, this is the gram that used to come to all of my WPI soccer games (no matter how cold it was) and would pick me up, bring me to her house, and send me to another room to do my homework while she did all of my laundry. I LOVED having someone who loved me so much be so close when I was in school :) Thanks, Grammy!!! I hope you have a great 80th birthday!

So excited!

I just bought tickets for me and the boys to see the Harlem Globetrotters at the end of March!! I remember going to see them as a kid and it was one of the most fun things I can remember. I made sure to get tickets up close so they could see it well! Yay!

That's it... we're going SuperNanny on him...

For the most part, I've never had a problem with my kids and sleeping. In fact, I've always counted myself downright lucky to have such good sleepers. However, Max has stopped going to bed at night and it is driving me crazy!

We tuck him in and within about 30 seconds he is out of his room complaining that something hurts, his finger, his leg, his arm, and even once his "forebummy". No I don't know what a "forebummy" is, but he was pointing to the side of his bum.

We typically put him back in bed, cover him again and leave. Now, Lather, rinse, repeat about 5 times a night. We have gotten to the point where we tell him that we won't cover him anymore, which turns into a giant screaming fit. To the point where as I walked out of his room one night, Tim says, "No offense, Mom, by why don't you just cover him?" How do you tell the 7 year old that it really isn't about covering him at this point?

Well, Rich has started the super nanny move of putting him without saying a word. So I did that last night... i put Sam in our bed and put max back in without a word (or covering him) and listened to the screaming. Which we repeated 3 times before he came out and told me that I have to watch him cover himself. I followed him down the hall, stood in the doorway, watched him cover himself, and left. Ahhh, peace and quiet ensued!

Let's see what happens tonight!

O-M-G!

Have you ever seen or heard those phone commercials where the parents are yelling at the kids about texting and they start talking in text lingo? Well, it has begun in my house. The kids have started picking things up from their friends (it can't come from anywhere else because they done have cell phones and don't chat online yet).

Yesterday morning Sammy was playing on the Wii and Max stole a sip of Sam's water. Out of no where, I hear, "O-M-G!!! he just drank my water!!!". For all those who are text savvy yet, OMG stands for Oh My God! I thought I heard Tim say this once the other day, but it appears that it has become more mainstream with them! I'm glad that I at least know what they are saying :)

Happy Birthday to Grampa...

Today is my Dad's birthday and me, the boys, and my sister went out to my parents house to hang out. Both of my brothers were also there. We pretty much just hung out at their house for a while (we tried to teach my brother's and Grampa how to play guitar hero, but I'm not sure that they got the hang of it)

But then we took my dad to Texas Roadhouse for an early dinner. Since they don't have good seating for big parties, they put us at 2 tables next to each other... somehow I ended up at a table with TIm and Max, at which Sam then decided that he wanted to sit with me. I thought, wait a minute, I go to my parents to get a break and make them play with my kids, why am I sitting with them? :) But, for the most part, they were pretty good, although Max did make a habit out of standing up on his booster seat and calling, "Hi Gramma! Hi Grampa! Hi Uncle DJ! Hi Uncle Danny! Hi Auntie Les!" a few times. Very cute for them, very distracting for me :) But all in all, we had fun.

Then we went home and had some cake. We pretty much demolished it and headed home. Sam and Max fell asleep on the way home and then they all went straight to bed. Phew! Not sure what we'll do tomorrow :)

Happy Birthday, Dad! Love you!
